Overview

I am presenting below updates on the parties - several of them have disappeared. I would suggest to present first the parties still active or with historical significance. Updated information on the parties and their current status is available at the Electoral Supreme Court website.
Most flags presented on this page are based on information once  retrieved from the Electoral Supreme Court website. However, the website shows the emblems and not the flags. A warning notice should be added at the top of the page, stating that, unless explicitly stated, the flags are unconfirmed. The images of the emblems can be seen here.

It is charged with a white figure made of two thick strokes, one longer than the other. The two strokes reach the limit of the flag, the shorter at left and the longer at right. This figure represents a stylized, V-shaped flying bird.

Partido Renovación Costarricense (PRC), a Christian party, was founded on 9 December 1995 in Hatillo by former members of ANC (Alianza Nacional Cristiana). The party was registered by Resolution No. 485 of 23 May 1996. In the 2010 elections, PRC obtained 0.7% of the votes for the presidential election and 1 out of 57 seats in the Chamber of Deputies.

According to Article 7 of the party's Statutes, revised by Resolution No. 1,423 of 28 March 1998, Resolution No. 30 of 2 March 2013, and Resolution No. 51 of 18 May 2013 , "The party has for single emblem a bicolor, rectangular flag. Its colours are blue and white, divided horizontally into two equal parts. The upper right part of the blue stripe is charged with an oval-shaped element, which symbolizes the vigilant action of our movement for the respect of justice and common good, which are the fundamental bases of the party. The lower left part of the white stripe is charged with the acronym 'PRC' written in  capital letters."

On 4 February 2013, the Electoral Supreme Court declared that the use of a Christian symbol - here the fish -, by the party violates Article 28 of the Constitution.  EFE, 4 February 2013
The wording of Article 7 of the Statutes was amended accordingly. The former version said "a fish-shaped insignia, which symbolizes the party's Christian principles". The drawing currently shown on the website of the Electoral Supreme Court indeed shows the emblem with an oval instead of a fish.
